I am delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to our school and to share our ethos and aspirations with you. Scoil Mhuire is a school committed to excellence in education in the community of Buncrana for over 80 years. We have an education steeped in history with a tradition of high academic standards in a caring environment. Our excellent teachers are a highly qualified, dynamic, committed team who inspire our students daily to succeed to the highest possible level academically and personally. We strive to help our students do their very best socially and develop a belief in themselves leading to a strong foundation for whatever profession they choose. Over 90% of the students in Scoil Mhuire go on to 3rd level education and each year we are proud of their achievements.
The school has been under the trusteeship of CEIST (Catholic Education, an Irish Schools Trust) since 2007. As a CEIST school, we have an obligation to make a difference in each student's life. Our aim is to provide a holistic education and to develop the personal best of each student in every sphere: intellectually, morally, physically, spiritually and socially. The staff provides a huge range of extra-curricular activities in the context of a tradition of sports, music and art.
As Principal, I am proud of the committed staff who go beyond the call of duty by giving voluntarily of their time to offer extra classes, work on projects, take time to organise and run school tours and much more. In the true Catherine McAuley tradition of our founder, we live out the five elements of the CEIST Charter on a daily basis. I have no doubt that if your son/daughter decides to come to our school, he/she will be proud to belong to a school community that places student welfare at the heart of all our practices.
Evelyn McLoughlin, Principal
