The Emerging Talent Programme is the first program of its type in Ireland. It aims to develop pupils with a deep interest in sport in both an academic and sporting capacity. Pupils are exposed to workshops and talks from guest speakers who are experts in their chosen field of work. Concussion, anti-doping, goal setting, time management, fitness testing, nutrition, study skills, managing finances and media relations are examples of life skills to which students are exposed. There are also several trips to professional sporting organisations that run during the year where pupils can get a first-hand experience of the work they do. Pupils also complete daily questionnaires which monitors both their physical and mental well-being. The overall aim of this innovative program is to enable pupils to reach the highest level in their sporting field while also achieving their potential academically.
