Chess Club

Are there any TY students Interested in getting involved in a chess club? If so please see Ms Carlin.

Gaisce

Reminder all TY students are taking part in the President's Award. No exceptions. This means they all should be doing 1 hour a week of Physical Activity eg gym, football training etc, 1 hour a week of community service (volunteering) and 1 hour a week of a new skill (doing IT in school). All of the above must be signed off using the record sheet attached and returned to Ms K McGonagle. Please print this sheet and get it filled in regularly.

Bronze-Award-Record-Card

JOhn Paul Award

Similarly students who have signed up to the Pope John Paul Award need to do an hour of Parish duties per week and an hour of community service ( volunteering). They should follow Derry Youth on instagram and complete the tasks they set on a Monday night.

Volunteering

Being community aware and developing a sense of helping, out in whatever setting, is an important theme in the Scoil Mhuire TY programme. Therefore we encourage students to do their bit which ties in with the above two programmes. Credits are awarded for extra activities that students get involved in. This is to try and enrich the experience for the student and to add to their CV and personal confidence. Students have the time to develop their soft skills this year and should not waste the opportunity. Please continue to enter all extra activities in the log.

Be Well Programme

This programme continues for 4A and 4B next Thursday from 11.15 - 1.15pm 4A and 1.55pm-3.55pm for 4B. The feedback from last weeks session was very good.

Yes Programme

This programme is being presented to students by YOuth work Ireland from Dublin and will take place on the 12th and 13th of December. A permission form has been sent out to students and/or parents. Please make sure that this form is returned or you will not be able to take part.

Christmas Assessments

Christmas assessments continue this week. Please try not to miss these particularly if it is a certified exam eg Safe Food or QQI Computer Applications.

Tug Of War

Well done to everyone who took part in the Tug of War Blitz. Did I hear the boys won????

Looking into Law

There are a few students interested in this and as there is only one place. We need to confirm who is going so a google form will be sent out with some questions and hopefully we can choose who goes from that. If you would like to be considered then please email Ms K McGonagle. Remember you have to be able to attend the Law Society in Dublin for two days.

Trade Fair

Our Annual Trade Fair takes place this Friday 9th December in the Assembly Hall. Students will get an opportunity to bring in their products and begin set up on Thursday evening. Please make sure you have all the items you need for the stall including sellotape, blue tac, thumbtacks, paper etc. Teachers will not be letting you borrow stuff. This is your business. Plan and be organised. Make sure your stall stands out from the crowd. What can you do to attract customers?

Christmas Fun

Christmas Jumper Day is scheduled for Friday 16th December. We might squeeze in a Christmas trip on Monday 19th December and we will have our TY Christmas treasure hunt on the 15th of December.

For the remainder of the class can all students note what assessments they have to complete this week. Read and respond to emails, enter the graduate.ie competition and check all google classrooms.
