TY News 5 - 21st October 2024
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Focus Ireland Sleepover. We raised €780 in total.
Thanks to the Buncrana First Responders for an engaging and hands-on workshop on CPR and using a defibrillator. Hopefully we will never need to practice our new skill but its great to be trained in what we would need to do should the occasion arise.
Please continue to bring paper and pens to school. This message still hasn’t got to everyone. You may use a chromebook in most classes but not all. A pen is the most basic requirement for class.
Well done on your behaviour and engagement in all our activities to date. You have been great. We have also noted an improvement in timekeeping in the morning for our breakfast crew. Well done on this and thank you for your cooperation.
Students continue to take part in the changemakers programme on Tuesdays and the Reading Buddies on a Monday.
The girls have signed up for The Stem Passport programme which will begin after Christmas in conjunction with ATU. Last year's TY girls will attend their STEM graduation on Monday 4th Nov in ATU Sligo.
A number of our TY students will attend the European Youth Parliament Connacht Branch in Galway over Halloween.
Well done to Katarina Forkan on taking part in the Leadership competition with Letterkenny Rotary Club.
Ms Rois Deeney is looking for volunteers for the Sunday Halloween parade in Buncrana. Please give her your names if you are up for it. It's happening at 7pm from the old Firestation to the Market Square.
Upcoming Events after Halloween include:
- Line Dancing and JIving Class
- Gardai programme on Road Safety, Drink and Drugs
- First Aid course with Irish Red Cross
- Change makers
- Reading Buddies
- GAA coaching courses.
- Peace and Reconciliation Cross border Programme (SEPI)
- Career conversations Initiative
All students need to read their emails every day. Opportunities to take part in activities are sent to all of you. If you are not keeping up with your emails you will miss out on things you may like to do. Please remember you will only get the most out of the year when you sign up to the different activities that are offered.
