TY admin 6th December 2021
Work Experience
Students should be looking for your work experience for 2022. You will be starting on January 5th until May 18th.
Remember if you are planning on working with young people or vulnerable adults and are over 16, you need to get garda vetted. Nikki has the forms in the office.
All work experience diaries must be completed by December 17th.
Employer Reports will be given out this week to be completed and returned to the school by the 17th also.
DRCC Talk
DRCC has postponed their consent and health awareness talk until after Christmas. These talks were supposed to take place today and tomorrow.
Digital Media course
Surprised there haven't been more names emailed to take part in this course. I will add the links for the info on it below. I have three names so far and should be able to take 20. The course will take place in school.

SID Ambassador Training
Best of Luck to Leah Rose and Kira starting their Social Media Ambassador training this week. they will develop a safer internet programme for the school after christmas break.
Carepack.ie
There is still time to register for the above and send a present to a resident in a local nursing home. This could be a class project for Social Enterprise or Religion class.
Another nice idea involving the local nursing homes is to send them a Christmas card, with a message and maybe a Christmas wordsearch inside.
Gaisce
There are a number of students who still haven’t registered for Gaisce. I have emailed them the instructions and need this to be completed today. Gaisce is a compulsory programme in TY.
Out of class
All students should have permission to be out of class from a teacher, coordinator or year head. A number of TY went to the Scarvey to watch
a match on Thursday last and did not return after lunch. This technically
is scheming and is not to happen again.
Foyle Arena
Students will travel to Foyle Arena on Tuesday as part of their PE class. They will use the climbing wall, swim or play indoor football. The cost of this trip will be 7.50 euro and should be paid to the office or online before you go.
Escape Rooms and Cinema
The TY Christmas trip will take place this Thursday 9th To Lifford. Students will take part in a teambuilding & leadership activity involving escape rooms at LIfford courthouse and attend the cineplex in Lifford. The cost of the trip is 30 euro which includes the escape room, cinema, lunch and a drink and popcorn. The school will pay half of this cost so students need to pay 15 euro. Please pay this money online or to the office before we go on Thursday. A google form will be sent to all TY today asking them to vote for the movie they would like, Their food choice for lunch ( Chicken curry, burger or goujons) and their drink and popcorn choice.
Apologies these two activities are happening in the one week. It is just the way the dates were available.
Trade Fair December 10th
Our Annual trade fair takes place from 9-1pm this Friday. All students taking part have been given instructions on how the day works and the health and safety requirements. It is essential that teams get their Business plans printed by Tuesday evening as they are off Wednesday for work experience and away Thursday. Students have been working on these for a few weeks and must have a written plan for the judges for Friday morning. Students are being assessed for two National competitions at the Trade Fair, The NIFTE Programme and The Student Enterprise Programme, run by the Donegal Enterprise office.
Set up for the Trade Fair will take place on Thursday evening when we return from Lifford. The Hall will remain open until 6pm so students will probably need to arrange a lift home from school that evening. Students may bring items they need for set up to school on Thursday morning. A room will be available to store items until we get back. Students may also arrange for parents to bring items into school at 3.30pm so they can set up. The Hall will also be open from 8am on Friday morning. Everyone must be ready to go at 9am as we have a busy day ahead.
Students should wear their school uniform or have a themed dress code for their stall.
Uniform
Please remember that uniform for out of class activities is the school half zip or a dark tracksuit top and dark bottoms. Please wear your school coat. The TY sweatshirts are stuck in customs and hopefully will be in the school shortly.
TY FEE
As you are all aware there is a 150 euro fee for TY. There are a number of students who are availing of the programmes in TY and have still not paid your fee. Please pay this online or in person in the office. If you are not sure if yours is paid, NIkki will be able to check for you.
Ski Meeting
Meeting for all TY going skiing in the Assembly Hall today at 11.05am
