European Youth Parliament Ireland.

We are reaching out to inform you of our upcoming conference on the 9th and 10th of November in Galway Session. This event endeavors to bring together over 80 4th, 5th, and 6th year students from all across Connacht and Ulster to discuss important issues with other like-minded students. This year we have a particular focus on welcoming participants from Donegal. No experience is needed to participate in the conference, and everyone is welcome.

Participation at the conference is an invaluable opportunity for your students to gain confidence in public speaking, gain research skills, and make friends and connections from across our entire European network. We operate across over 40 countries and have worked with over 200,000 young people since 1987. By participating in our session, your students will gain the opportunity to progress to our national session in April and potentially to international sessions—large events to bring together students from across Europe.

There is a fee of 75 euros per residential participant, which is waived for Deis Schools.Students attend this event unaccompanied by teachers and parents. Delegates are there to supervise the students.

Ms Gorney has flagged the above with her European Studies students. Please let me know if there is anyone else who wishes to attend.

After the talk from the DIocese on John Paul hopefully a large number of you will get involved. It is a very worthwhile award to take part in, and can be as spiritual or religion based as you wish. Any community involvement to complete for Gaisce can be used for John Paul too.

In general, everyone regardless of what subjects they have chosen should be getting involved in some community projects.

This is an important part of TY and counts towards your final result.

Some options to start with are

Homework Club-after school for first years

Tidy Towns - every Saturday 10.00am -11.00am Tourist office meet up

Eportfolio

Can students continue to work on their Eportfolio at any point in their week when they have free time. Make sure you have a tab for your work experience diary and also a tab for reflection.

Any students who have taken part in an activity outside of their normal school week should be reflecting on this eg the archeological workshop and the history trip to Derry.
