TY MINIMED/PHARMA/PHYSIO Online school programme

Any student interested in taking part in this programme needs to give their name to Ms McGonagle before Thursday.

Volunteering

It is important that students learn the value of volunteering and being an active member of their community. There are many opportunities for students to get involved in this both in school and in their own area. As you are aware we are encouraging everyone to do some volunteering. 1 hour a week is required for both the Gaisce and John Paul award.

Buncrana’s Children's Charity, St Vincents de Paul, Park Run, GAA, Soccer clubs & Buncrana Tidy towns are always looking For TY volunteers to help out with their activities.

Bob A Job

We are launching this initiative to help fund a senior citizens party that Ms A McGonagle and our TY students are organising. The idea is that the students try to raise €10 by doing jobs at home this week. We are reluctant to ask for money as there is a lot going on in TY at the minute but hopefully parents can see the value in this as students are working for the money. Everyone has been given a BOB A JOB sheet. A copy of which has been linked below.

The Senior Citizens Party has been an annual event for the school and usually happens at Christmas time. Covid has put a hold on it for a few years, however we are delighted to say that it will be going ahead this year on the 9th of March with an Irish theme, in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. There will be senior citizens from all over Inishowen in attendance. As you can imagine the costs of running such an event are high and have increased greatly in the past three years. We are trying to fundraise to meet the costs and are open to any suggestions. If you have a talent or can think of an activity we can include on the day please let us know. Are you part of a trad group, play an instrument, Irish dancer, comedian…..whatever. It doesn’t have to be traditional Irish.

Work Experience

WRight folks, this is becoming a bit of an issue for us. There are a number of students who have not turned in the paperwork for their new work experience and/ or haven’t filled in the google sheet. Enquiries are made regarding where a student is and we don’t have the information. It is not acceptable and could be a problem if something happened to a student and we didn't have the information. We need to know where you are during school hours please.

Option for a week's work experience in Dublin at https://www.arup.com/offices/ireland if anyone is interested and has accommodation.

Sign Language Classes

Please email Ms McGonagle if you would be interested in doing a six week sign language course from 3.30 - 4.30 an evening in school. We will confirm the day when we see what numbers we have.

Belfast Trip

Reminder that everyone must have €30 minimum paid towards this trip by Friday. We have to pay the first installment to the hotel then so we need everyone to have confirmed they are going. I believe everyone has committed at this stage. Please talk to Ms McGonagle if there are any issues.
